Class Description:

Students will write an adventure novel over a period of eight months. Along the way they will learn classical three-part story structure, scene structure, characterization, plot, etc. I will show students how to break down the task of writing a longer piece into smaller, more manageable parts, each part being a lesson in itself.
Short video clips from movies will be used to illustrate story techniques. We'll also spend time in class discussing great stories and novels, as well as what works and doesn't work in our own novels-in-progress.
I will give feedback each week and final grades based on each section and on the final project. At the end of the school year they will have written a structured adventure novel. If they so desire, they can put their completed novel on the web to share with friends, family and the world.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis, and is secured upon tuition payment. Class is limited to 12 students. Interested families should contact Daniel Schwabauer at: 913/393-0702 or
